Noted literuer of Angika Mr. Kundan Amitabh participated in a three days International Multilingual Symposium that was organised at Birmingham, U.K., from 27 Aug '05 to 29 Aug '05. It was first time in the history of Angika when any Angika scholar participated in an international level programme.Mr. Amitabh presented a paper in Angika on the topic of National Integration of Indians. He also recited two Angika poems in a Kavi Sammelan during this occasion. |
The Sultanganj Buddha was discovered during railway construction in the North Indian town of Sultanganj, India, in 1862. Thanks to the interest of Birmingham metal manufacturer Mr Samuel Thornton who, on hearing of the discovery, paid 200 pound to have it transported to Birmingham. In 1867 the Sultanganj Buddha was put on exhibition in the Museum. The magnificent copper statue of the Buddha which is the centrepiece of this gallery, is among the most significant objects in Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Angika, the language of ancient and modern Anga, may be correlated with the Cham Language of Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and China. As Cham is the language of the Cham people of Southeast Asia, and formerly the language of Champa in central Vietnam. Champa is one of the oldest colonies of Southeast Asia, which had been established by the inhabitants of Anga Mahajanpada of Ancient India around 2000 years ago. Angika is among very few languages of India and world in which a Search Engine (Google-Angika) has been developed and is available for public use since 2004. Google Angika has been developed by Google Search Engine with the help of Mr. Kundan Amitabh. |
