The Gujarat government has decided to promulgate an ordinance to bring private medical practitioners under regulatory mechanism. This follows the hepatitis outbreak in the Sabarkanth district, that has so far claimed 49 lives.
Announcing this in the state Assembly, the Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas said that registration will be made compulsory to all private and public health service providers. A Committee and a Board will be set up to monitor the provisions of the ordinance.
AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that about 165 people have been admitted in various government hospitals after the outbreak of Hepatitis -B in Modasa town and its nearby villages in North Gujarat.
